Hi, I’m Maya

I started Dressing Practice after spending more than ten years buying, selling, and obsessing over clothes in the secondhand world. I’m passionate about sharing my expertise to help others sustainably and affordably outfit themselves in well-made and well-designed garments that will last in their wardrobes (and out of landfills) for many years to come. My work is about helping people make better use of what they already own, define what they actually want to wear, and add a few well-chosen pieces that fit naturally into their lives. I’ve seen how much good quality clothing exists and I’m not loyal to brands or trends. I take an open-minded approach to styling and help you discover what suits you, even if you’re not sure where to begin.

I’m an expert at getting my hands on excellent deals for top-of-the-line quality clothing and I bring that skill into our work together. I’ll do the behind-the-scenes work- digging through online resale listings, vetting quality and fit, and even negotiating for the best price. I know exactly where and what to look for so I can offer you the best curation of options to fill the gaps we identify in your existing wardrobe.

I’ve always loved the sense of recognition that happens when you come upon a piece of clothing that feels like it’s quietly speaking to you. Sometimes it’s the weight of the fabric, the way it moves, or a small, thoughtful detail. Other times it feels as if every design choice—the cut, the material, the color, the construction—was made with you in mind. That delightful feeling is what I love most about clothing, and it’s the joy I want to share with my clients.
